The Okotoks Dawgs wrapped up their season with a 3-1 loss to the Edmonton Prospects last night at Seaman Stadium in front of an anxious home crowd.

Pitcher CJ Lewington was locked in for four innings of work as he struck out 5, and limited hits from the Prospects.

Head Coach Tyler Graham says Lewington put all he had into the series final.

"We knew we had to get a good outing from CJ, he gave us everything he had and he had a tremendous outing." Coach Graham says "We went with our best guys out of the ‘pen, all of them threw really well, we just couldn’t get anything going offensively. Edmonton made some really big plays in big moments and you have to take your hat off to them … they competed as hard as we did ... We just didn’t come up with the timely hits when we needed to, and that’s what cost us the game.”

An all star crew hit the mound last night as Tyler Burdett, Anthony Balderas and Kody Funderburk who allowed 2 combined runs over 5 innings.

Both teams battled back and forth in the 7th inning, the Prospects reclaimed the lead with one run.

Coach Graham says Eddie Sanchez held back an offensive play from the Prospects after a double to the left-centre alley, with a diving play and a putout from shallow left field he held the black and gold to just one run.

"“Eddie did awesome at shortstop tonight, I was really proud of him and how he played, he picked us up.”

No matter what happened last night, the fans and coaches couldn't be more proud of our Okotoks Dawgs who were said to play more like family, then friends by their coaches.

“I think the team that we had this summer was a group of guys that wanted to win, that came to the field every day excited to win, I thought they did that all year.” says Graham, who refers to his team as 'warriors' - a term that fans are sure to agree with for the boys of summer, who gave us an incredible season.
