The Alberta Ladies Amateur Championship kicked off earlier this week on Monday.

The field had some notable names from past tournaments including 2019 winner Becky Martin.

The tournament adhered to strict rules to protect from COVID-19.

The tournament wrapped up on June 30th due to heavy rain all day Tuesday and through the night the course at Lakeside Golf Club in Chestermere had been deemed unplayable for competition Wednesday, July 1st for the final round of the Alberta Ladies Amateur Championship.

The tournament stands as a 36-hole event with 14-year-old Yeji Kwon declared the champion. The 8th grader from Port Coquitlam BC, shot rounds of 70 and 74 to edge National Amateur Team Member, Noemie Pare of Quebec, by 1 stroke.

2020 Alberta Ladies Amateur Champion: Yeji Kwon "I've been practicing really hard every day, a lot of hours, and it's hard on the nerves to compete against these great players," Kwon admitted after her second round. "The effort I've put into practicing would make it really good to win."

Kylie Barros is the Alberta Mid-Amateur Champion, while Andrea Kosa takes the Mid-Master title.

The Alberta Amateur Overall Low Net title goes to Morgan Bell. 

The Alberta Interprovincial team consists of Taylor Stone, Annabelle Ackroyd and Kylie Barros.
