Wheatland County's Fire Advisory was short lived

As of April 29th, Wheatland County was under a Fire Advisory.

There was a moderate fire risk in the County due to the dry, windy weather the province had been experiencing.

All outstanding permits, including fire permits and fireworks permits, were suspended once the Fire Advisory took effect.

There are some exceptions to the Fire Advisory that residents are still allowed to use for the time being.

Those exceptions are catalytic infrared-style heaters, fires contained in approved facilities and appliances, fires in designated camping or recreational areas, incinerators for farm or acreage use, internal household fireplaces, CSA-approved or UL-certified gas or propane BBQs and stoves, recreational campfires that are in an approved burn pit, regulated burn barrels, solid fuel BBQ's (such as charcoal briquettes), and portable CSA approved or UL certified propane fire pits.

The Fire Restriction was removed on May 2nd after much of the province received a good amount of moisture.

Fire permits have been reinstated.
