Some more COVID-19 measures just got the boot this week, with more to disappear come August.

Dr. Deena Hinshaw did an impromptu announcement on Wednesday, July 28, after several weeks without any regularly scheduled updates.

Here's a list of the current changes:

- Close contacts no longer have to isolate, but it's recommended.
- Close contacts will no longer be notified by contact tracers. Those who've tested positive are being asked to notify their close contacts when informed about their positive result.
- Those who test positive or have COVID symptoms are still required to isolate.
- Testing for those without symptoms is no longer recommended but is still available for those with symptoms.
- Masks are still required for acute and continuing care facilities, publicly accessible transit, taxis, and ride-shares.

August 16 is looking to be another day of change for Albertans.

Here's a list of what's coming next:

- There will be no more masks for transit, taxis, or ride-shares. Some masking restrictions may still apply in acute care or continuing care facilities.
- Isolation will no longer be required even after testing positive for COVID-19 but is strongly recommended. Individuals are recommended to stay home if experiencing symptoms.
- Isolation hotels and quarantine support will no longer be available.
- Testing for those with symptoms will be available when needed to help direct patient care decisions.
- Masks won't be required in schools when students return.
