Claresholm and Nanton RCMP were involved in a couple dangerous incidents this week.

About 8:15 Sunday morning Claresholm RCMP approached a vehicle they suspected was stolen.

The driver was asleep but awoke and slammed the one ton truck into two police vehicles disabling one while the other took off in a pursuit that was stopped when the driver entered the southbound lanes of Highway 2 going north.

The same vehicle was seen by a Nanton RCMP member in Nanton Tuesday June 23, parked in a driveway.

Again, when the officer approached, the driver took off, colliding with the police vehicle.

A pursuit ensued, leaving Nanton and heading east of the town.

An area resident saw the chase and pulled his own vehicle across the roadway in an effort the slow or stop the chase.

The suspect chose to slam his vehicle into the parked vehicle, disabling his in the process.

Sergeant Greg Stannard says the area resident took a dangerous chance.

"As much as we like to get help and people seeing what's going on reporting it to us to actually get involved in putting themselves in danger is certainly not recommended, we don't want to see anyone else get hurt, it's a dangerous thing and things can change quite quickly and they're very unpredictable," he says.

No one was injured in the incident.

25-year-old Hudson Soll from Vulcan is facing a total of 31 charges including two counts of assault on police, two counts of flight from police, two counts of escape lawful custody, three counts of mischief, possession of stolen property, three firearms offences and a number of vehicle offences and breaches of conditions all under the Criminal Code.

The RCMP reminds everyone that these situations can be dangerous, volatile and unpredictable and they don't encourage the public to actively get involved in these types of incident for their own safety.
