A member of the Okotoks Dawgs is moving up in the world.

Left-handed pitcher, Nick Vickers, has committed to play for the NCAA Division One Virginia Tech Hokies of the Atlantic Coast Conference this fall.

"It's something I've been working for my entire life," he said. "So it's a dream come true."

The Calgary product enjoyed a fantastic year with Colby Community College a season ago, leading the team in strikeouts with 87 over 60 innings pitched, while holding an ERA of 3.58.

With the Dawgs this season Vickers has fanned 14 over nine innings of work, good for second on the club.

Virginia Tech has added the lefty following a 23-32 campaign.

In the 2017 MLB draft, two Hokies were selected.
