People gathered at the Seaman Stadium for more than just baseball this past weekend.

The Okotoks Dawgs decided to make Saturday night's game a tribute to mayor Bill Robertson who recently passed away following a battle with cancer.

During the pre-game celebration of Robertson's life, the Dawgs retired jersey no. 2010, which is the year he was elected as mayor.

A few thousand fans watched as William Gardner, one of the Dawgs directors, spoke of the mayor's contributions as part of the Dawgs family.

The Dawgs presented the Robertson family with a bouquet of flowers as well as the no. 2010 jersey.

After the pre-game tribute, the Dawgs lifted their hats in honour before having his grandson Mason Robertson throw the opening pitch.

Afterward, the Dawgs Black team gave the fans a little extra something to remember the night by, taking home a 3-2 victory over the Edmonton Prospects.
