For the first time in 20 years someone not named "McFarlane" is in charge of the Okotoks Bisons.

Brent Trevors has taken over the General Managers role after Jay McFarlane stepped away from the role at the end of last season after 10 years.

He says it's like being given the keys to the "Cadillac" of the Heritage Junior "B" Hockey League.

"I think I'm getting a pretty good organization, it's been run well for 20 years. They've been successful. So, hopefully I'll continue the success and make a few changes and see how she goes."

He says he'd like to see plenty of local players come out to try to make the team when they start camp Wednesday, September 7.

He says the best chance to impress the coaches comes on September 9, when the Bisons face Airdrie and High River is a pair of split squad games.

"You'll get an opportunity to play in a game if you're a decent player. So, kids want an opportunity to play in the league? This is as good of a chance as they're ever going to get, I think."

The Bisons finish up the regular season on September 11 in High River before opening the regular season the following Friday, September 16, at home to the Coaldale Copperheads.
