As always, the end of the year was a busy time for Alberta RCMP.

They issued 2,459 traffic tickets between Dec. 24 and Jan. 1, with 1,050 of them being for speeding.

Of those, 15 tickets were doled out for drivers caught speeding 51 km/h or more over the posted limit.

RCMP highlighted one driver who was clocked at 201 km/h in a 110 zone.

Officers issued 40 tickets for distracted driving and 1,354 for various traffic safety violations including driving with a prohibited or suspended licence and careless driving.

A total of 189 impaired drivers were removed from Alberta roads.
