Some fast times Thursday night at the High River Ag Grounds for the first night of chuckwagon racing at Guy Weadick Days.

Okotoks Mark Sutherland was the best of the locals finishing with the sixth fastest time of the night.

He was off barrel three in heat six, and says drivers going in heats one, four and seven had an advantage.

"You know the track does chew up a little bit. And I was in the third heat before the harrows, and so you'll see some of the faster heats might come right after the harrow."

He was right as Colt Cosgrave in heat seven took the top day money with the fastest run of the night.

High River's Jason Glass was 14th on the night, with fellow High River driver Jordie Fike down in 31st.

Luke Tournier, Kirk Sutherland, Evan Salmond and Rae Croteau Jr., round out the top five heading into night two of racing Friday, which gets going at 7 o'clock.
