The Province will ease some of their COVID restrictions starting Monday, January 18.

Health Minister Tyler Shandro says outdoor social gatherings of no more than 10 people will be permitted, and the maximum amount of attendees at funerals services will increase to 20 people, though funeral receptions are still prohibited.

As well, select personal wellness services, including salons, barbershops, tattoo parlours, and manicure/pedicure businesses will be able to resume service on an appointment-only basis, and while offering only one-on-one services.

Shandro says measures will be adjusted as necessary moving forward as cases continue to rise or fall.

Alberta's Chief Medical Officer of Healthy, Dr. Deena Hinshaw also provided the province's latest COVID-19 numbers.

967 new cases of COVID-19 were identified over the last 24 hours, with 12,434 total active cases.

21 additional COVID-related deaths were confirmed, with 1,389 Albertans now having lost their lives.
