The Sheep River Health Trust will have to dust off their box of decorations for another year as Avenue of Trees comes closer to reality.

After some worrying that the event would have to be cancelled Candice Wyma, Fund Development Coordinator for the Sheep River Health Trust says they will be going ahead with the 9th annual Avenue of Trees with some changes.

"With everything in the world that has been cancelled or postponed we are so excited that we are going forward with our ninth annual Avenue of Trees for Sheep River Health Trust."

Wyma says they are so glad that they could go ahead with the event as it has gained so much popularity over the years.

"It gets bigger every year, this is an event that's becoming more and more known in the community every year, people get really excited every year to see those trees go up, this year, like every other year will look a little different."

This year they will be hosting at the Best Western Hotel in Okotoks rather than the regular venue at the Okotoks Recreation Centre, Wyma says it will be just as special as years past.

"It's going to look beautiful, if anyone has been in the Best Western Plus in Okotoks it's a beautiful hotel and we are going to be lining their lobby and their ballroom with 30 trees."

Wyma says they have lots of interest already from businesses in town and are hoping for a couple more before their deadline.

"Of businesses in town, we already have over 20 trees that have committed, so we don't have a lot of spots left but if any businesses do want to get a spot they need to contact us fast, it's going to make the ballroom and lobby look wonderful."

Avenue of Trees helps fundraise for the Sheep River Health Trust as well as a new program this year that Wyma says will help boost the holidays for 10 families in the foothills.

"All the money raised will go toward the Sheep River Health Trust which helps support health and wellness in the Foothills, with our Avenue of Trees this year we are naming ten trees that will be selected as Trees of Hope, These trees will be selected, people can donate to these trees and then they will be donated to families in our community so maybe if people need a boost or don't have a tree this Christmas season, we have trees that will be put into those families homes. If people want to donate to those trees they can go online when our bidding site goes live and donate to those trees."

The trees go up on November 16th and won't come down until December 16th.
