Nothing's set in stone yet, but the Canadian Finals Rodeo could be on the move out of Edmonton where it's been since 1974.

Strathmore bull rider Scott Schiffner's heard the rumours about it moving to Saskatoon or Calgary and says wherever it ends up is fine with him.

"So you know whether it be Saskatoon or like we've heard the rumours of Vancouver or Calgary or as far as going all the way out east to Toronto or something. I think every major centre in Canada should have a serious look at it because it does bring a lot of value, and money to a city."

Schiffner says wherever it may end up in 2017 three big things need to be taken into consideration.

"Fans are number one. Sponsorship number two. And contestants number three. If we can put it in the right place, with the right fans, and the fans enjoy it and want to come, sponsorship follows it. Because the more people who see it, the more sponsors want to get their names involved with something like that. And then it all comes down to us as contestants."

Schiffner says he's intrigued by the idea of moving the rodeo to a "non-traditional" city like Toronto or Vancouver.

He says it's a great way to attract new fans and sponsors.
