The high school rugby season is off and running for the year as a lot of teams play their first games of the year this week.

Wednesday night in Okotoks, the hometown Foothills Falcons girls took one on the chin losing 24-15 to the Strathmore Spartans-1 girls.

The Spartans-2 girls are in High River Thursday night to battle the Mustangs ladies in their home opener..

Game time is 5 o'clock at Mustangs Field.

Thursday night's other game has the Oilfields Drillers boys in Strathmore to take on the Spartans.

While the Highwood Mustangs boys kick off their season next Monday (April 18) in Black Diamond against the Drillers.
