It was a record setting final day for Canada at the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas.

The Alberta Team Roping duo, Ponoka's Levi Simpson and Jeremy Buhler from Arrowhead dominated the event, finishing their competition with a 4.3 second run in the final round on saturday, bringing home golden buckles in the finals. Simpson and Buhler rake in a combined seasons earnings of $507,444.11

 

Barrhead's Kolton Schmidt and American Shay Carroll had a no time in the 10th round. Schmidt finishes 10th in the world.

Zeke Thurston of Big Valley came out in top spot overall in Saddle Bronc. he comes home with a gold buckle and a seasons earnings of $265,449.45.

Canadians continued to do well in Saddle Bronc with Nantons own Clay Elliot grabing fifth spot saturday finishing 11th in the world with a seasons earnings of $139,759.79.

Also in saddle bronc, Jake Watson from Hudson's Hope BC. moved up from 15th to 5th place in the world standings

Jake Vold of Airdrie snagged the second spot in the world in Bareback winning over $165,000 at WNFR with 3 go round victories.

Manitoba's Orin Larsen ended up third in the world standings in Bareback with 1 go round victory.

Combined, all 8 canadians finish the WNFR with a record haul of over $1,000,000, easily the most successful in Canadian rodeo history.
