The Okotoks Cenotaph was a busy place this weekend.

On Saturday, locals gathered to recognize the completion of phase two of the Salute to our Veterans memorial wall on Veterans Way.

Okotoks culture and heritage team leader Allan Boss describes it as a connection of history to the beauty of art and the value of memorial and service.

"If you start at the bottom of the hill on the south end of the hill, and you work your way up the hill, you will start with the Boer War, and that will take you to World War I and that will take you to the Korean War, and then you'll get to World War II.

"So the first part of the installation was World War II, so the additions to it have been the sections on the lower end of the wall."

Councillor Gord Lang was glad to feel part of the community.

"We should be proud of something that has got national recognition, and it should have national recognition."
