Two individuals are facing charges after a vehicle stolen out of High River ended up in a collision in Chestermere.

At around 9:15 am on March 3rd, a Chestermere peace officer attempted to stop a Dodge Dakota after a traffic violation.

The vehicle sped away after the officer activated the patrol car's lights, and the officer didn't pursue.

Shortly after, the officer discovered the Dakota had collided with a work van in a nearby intersection.

According to a release from Chestermere Municipal Enforcement, the collision, which was caught on video, took both vehicles off the road.

The driver of the van was uninjured, but the driver of the Dakota had to be removed by fire services, and both they and the passenger were transported to hospital in non-life-threatening condition.

Officers soon discovered the vehicle had been reported stolen from High River, and both its occupants are now facing numerous charges in relation to the incident and from prior outstanding warrants.

The incident is still under investigation from both Chestermere RCMP and Municipal Enforcement.
