The Calgary Police Service (CPS) has released an update on the ongoing incident that's tied up traffic in downtown Calgary since early this morning.

At 3:11 p.m., seven hours after their initial release, they sent out a message via social media:

"We know access to the downtown core continues to be significantly impacted. We thank you for your continued patience as we work to bring a safe resolution for the individual involved."

The 5th Avenue flyover has been reopened, with the Reconciliation Bridge and 4th Avenue flyover remaining closed.

In their earlier media release, CPS indicated that they were working to resolve an incident involving a person experiencing a mental health crisis.
