The Okotoks Oilers head into the final week of the 2015-16 AJHL season looking to go into the playoffs not just on a winning note but also back to roster that isn't depleted either.

Despite going 0-2 against the Calgary Canucks over the weekend, the Oilers regained their ability to take over a game over their 1st round opponent in the playoffs on Saturday, despite falling due to a 45 save effort from Canucks goaltender Logan Drackett where the Oilers out shot, out chanced and out worked Calgary.

Oiler Head Coach James Poole says he hopes his team can be patient with Canucks despite them taking the last three tilts.

"We're excited for that 1st round, I think the Canucks definitely got some confidence from winning three games against us and perhaps getting a little bit cocky but I think our players really got a little bit of that hate on for the Canucks which was needed and I think it's going to make for a great 1st round match-up."

In a game that will have no impact on the South Division standings on Friday, the Oilers travel to Olds to face their long time playoff rivals one more time looking for their 5th win of the season against the Grizzlys who will finish 7th in the South for the 3rd time in four years.

Poole says preparation will be a little different this week for their last regular season game.

"It's really a focus of getting healthy, we've got some sick bodies, we have some injured bodies and we're really looking to get back to full strength health wise or as close to it as possible, this week is really focused on dialing in on our game in. Not so much for the Olds game but for the big picture of playoffs."

Poole says there's still a lot on the line against the Grizzlys.

"It's going to be a process game, it's going to be a game where hopefully if we have some bodies back, hopefully closer to our line-up for what it will look like game one of playoffs. We want to generate some chemistry on our forward lines. We need to straighten out our power play and get that clicking again and looking to play a complete 60 minute game."

Game time Friday is 7 p.m. at the Olds Sportsplex

The Oilers will begin their playoff series with the Canucks starting March 10 at Pason Centennial Arena.
