The Okotoks Oilers will face their biggest task of the season so far this weekend with a three games in two and half days roadtrip up north starting Friday.

The Green and Gold are coming off a 4-0 loss last Friday in Camrose that saw them fall out of the top spot in the South Division after another Camrose win in Olds on Tuesday.

Oilers Assistant Coach Derek Stuart says despite the loss with such a young team in the fold its another learning lesson for them heading into Lloydminster.

"I think it was a good thing that it did happen actually, because we're assuming that Lloydminster, Sherwood Park and Drayton Valley are going to play the exact same style Camrose played on Friday so hopefully its a good learning lesson for our players."

The Bobcats are neck in neck with the Spruce Grove Saints in the South Division with only two regulation losses this year, Stuart says the RBC Cup hosts will be a real big test for the Oilers.

"They've done their homework and done their job with their personnel there," he says. "They look an RBC host right now , I know its early but they're very difficult to play against off the rush and they're very difficult off the rush and they're very difficult to stop when they puck possession and have opportunities to attack the net."

Stuart says a good week of practice and going through the mistakes made against the Kodiaks will go a long way to determine how things play out against the Bobcats.

"We lost a lot of loose puck races, lost a lot of battles, weren't tough on our sticks and I think if you asked the other side on Friday it was a really easy game for them play and if we're going to be successful we're going to have to make it tough for other teams to get those opportunities to get loose pucks."

The Oilers face the Bobcats Friday, Sherwood Park Saturday and close out the weekend against the Drayton Valley Thunder.

They'll return home October 30th and 31st against Drumheller and Canmore during their Breast Cancer Awareness Weekend jersey auction.
