After making it to Provincials last year in the Bantam ranks and almost making it through the Juniors this year, the Jacob Libbus rink out of the Oilfields Curling Club are one of the favourites heading into this weekends U-18 Men's District Curling Playdowns in Airdie.

Libbus says though they come from a small club, they be mighty.

"Honestly I think we're a team to beat considering how well we did in the Junior Playdowns. But there's other teams we've had trouble in the past with, like Calgary's Ryan Parent rink. That's team's alright, they're going to be a tough game. We're looking to play them in the "A" finals."

Libbus will be joined by by the Jared Palanuik rink, also from the Oilfields.

A trio of Okotoks rinks will be taking part as well with Tyler Smith, Cailen Knopp and the Hunter Kish rink from the Okotoks Curling Club looking for a berth in Southern's next month in Cochrane.

The District's run Friday through Sunday.
