Six Okotoks garbage bins will be getting makeovers.

The town's "Beautiful Bins Project" will see locals vote on designs to be painted on six bear-proof bins in town parks and pathways.

There are 12 designs to choose from, all drawn up by local students from the Foothills Composite and all under the theme of "pollinators."

It's reminiscent of the "Paint-a-Potty" projects from a few years prior, where residents voted on designs from Comp students that were later painted on outdoor public restrooms in town parks.

Voting will take place until March 13, with painting to start in the spring.

The town is aiming to have the paintings finished by June.
