The new Head Pro at the Nanton Golf Club doesn't start officially until September 1.

But members got a chance to say "hello" to Dave Henzie as he came by on the final day of the Club Championships to introduce himself.

Henzie, who spent time as an assistant at Priddis Greens here in the Foothills and then The Elks club in Calgary for the last seven, says it was a long process to get the job.

"I think I applied back at the end of May, and they had a bit of space in between, so I thought maybe I didn't make the cut. Finally got a call back in early July to come for an interview. Did a couple of interviews, and glad to have the opportunity to have the job now. This is my first head pro job. So exciting to step into a new role and learn some new things."

The club also has a brand new men's champion as well as High River's Grant Ball took the title.

Ball was a former Assistant Pro at Highwood.

Tanya Law takes the ladies title.

And in the seniors division, Gord Burrows took the title for the men and Wendy Cochlan is the senior ladies champ.
