For the sixth time in as many years River's Edge Golf Course Assistant Pro Dan McIntosh is heading Stateside to compete in the World Long Drive Championships.

McIntosh who routinely hits the ball well over 400-yards says, just like every other golfer, long and straight is the plan if he hopes to come out with a cheque for $125,000.

"You're trying to hit it as straight as possible. I mean, if anything just a five yard draw. if you're shaping it too much it tends to fall out of the sky just because it has a spin axis that curves it towards the ground, instead of keeping it in the air."

McIntosh, a lefty, figures if the wind is blowing in the right direction, he'll have an advantage over his right handed opponents.

He says his swing's just a little off where he wants it to be heading into the competition.

"I would say my swing's about 80% efficient right now and it could be 100% efficient and then all of a sudden I'm right there with the top guys. So, it's just a matter of getting the most I can out of my swing and hopefully we can compete with these guys when we get down there."

The best he's ever placed is 16th.

They get started Friday, October 7 at the Winstar World Casino in Thackerville, Ohio.

The final round will be broadcast on the Golf Channel Wednesday, October 12.
