Okotoks Culture and Heritage Services have released the results of a recent survey regarding public art.

The survey and workshop was held in September to gather local opinions on art and how it should be handled.

Sixty eight people responded to the survey, which covered topics such as funding, placement, and general feelings toward public art.

Okotoks Culture and Heritage Services seeks to update the Public Arts Program Guidelines established in 2005, which is why they are seeking public feedback.

Allan Boss with Culture and Heritage says there aren't any major projects in development, but more surveying is planned.

"We got some great input off of the survey but we still need to gather more information about how the town feels, specifically about public art and what kind of public art they want, so there'll be more consultation coming in 2019."

Boss added that public input is always kept very well in mind with any public art project.

"Last year we adopted a public engagement strategy that is going to help guide a lot of our decision making. We're not an island, we exist as civil servants to enhance our community, and our community should tell us what they want and how they want it."
