A litter of 14 puppies surprised first-time breeders this spring.

Julie Swennumson researched online to know what to expect, but she was not expecting 14 puppies.

"I had to leave the house just to get some air, and then all of a sudden number 12 comes. Then all of a sudden number 13 comes, and I'm like, 'Oh my gosh. This has got to stop.'"

Their labradoodle Juno delivered the puppies at the end of April at their home in Nanton. Swennumson and her family were amazed at the number of puppies as they came one after another until finally, later that night, the last puppy arrived.

"At the beginning it wasn't so bad because she was kind of able to take care of them, but we were also supplementing them with milk. Now they're running everywhere, and they're peeing and pooping everywhere. It's a pretty busy household. My life is on pause."

Swennumson has done extensive research to make sure that all of the puppies have loving homes.

Within two weeks she found 11 homes and has since found homes for the rest. She started a Facebook group for the new puppy owners so that they can share stories and see their puppy's siblings grow up.

"The whole entire experience of just learning around breeding and the whole duration of her gestation, to delivery, to puppies, to just watching them grow, is a neat experience for us and our family."
