Okotokians have voted on their five favourite designs for "Paint-a-Potty: Number Two," with the winners having been announced on Tuesday morning.

The survey was launched in January, with 23 murals from Foothills Composite students and graduates to choose from.

Of those, the following artists' designs were chosen: Desirae Quinn, Bridget Tait, Ayana Patterson, Sen Smith, and Tasha Walther.

Ayana Patterson says after the pandemic set in, she'd forgotten the project, given that it was originally supposed to take place in 2020.

"I actually forgot about Paint-a-Potty and that we did it because of COVID and everything. I just totally forgot!"

She says it was a welcome surprise.

"It actually made my day and it's made my week since I learned that I won something. I haven't pursued art since school ended, so hearing that I actually won and that everyone around here loves it made me really happy."

Culture & Heritage manager Allan Boss says this year's survey was largely carried out in the same way, though there was a huge difference in the amount of engagement.

"The biggest difference, I think, was the reception. There was way more than double the people voting this year. I think that's partially due to the success of the first round where everybody was very happy with it."

He says t's not over just yet, as you're invited to decide where each design will go.

"We've got five locations that we've picked, and we're asking the public to say 'okay, which one should go in which location?' People will get the chance to vote on the five locations and where the designs will go, and so we'll see where they land!"
