Recoveries have increased to 14,537 province-wide.

Alberta's Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Hinshaw, says AHS has confirmed 64 cases pf COVGID-19 at 48 Alberta schools 10 outbreaks declared.

The Province defines an outbreak as two or more cases in one location, something Hinshaw took the opportunity to clarify.

"A reminder that we are using the term 'outbreak' very cautiously. Two cases are a sign that we are taking action and watching closely, but not a sign that the school is unsafe. So far, there is no evidence of transmission within schools, however as I mentioned on Monday, we do expect that this will happen eventually. That is why we are being extra cautious in declaring outbreaks, and AHS is working closely with school authorities to ensure all close contacts are quickly isolated to limit any spread of COVID-19."

Dr. Hinshaw also says they are making changes when it comes to asymptomatic testing.

She says in order to reduce wait times, Alberta will be shifting targeted COVID-19 testing.

Voluntary asymptomatic testing is no longer recommended for those who are not exhibiting symptoms and have not come into contact with a case or outbreak.

Priority, at-risk groups such as healthcare workers, school staff, those experiencing homelessness, and travellers will still be offered testing as usual.

Testing for individuals who are close contacts of a case or outbreak will also be tested as usual.
