The Foothills Advocacy in Motion High River Half Marathon remains a tradition unbroken by COVID-19 in the Foothills.

The 18th annual race will look a little different this year thanks to COVID with races not following a traditional schedule.

Jessica Koch withFAIM says racers won't have much of a schedule at all.

"So we have moved over to a virtual platform which means people will sign up just as they always have and then will have a bit more time to complete it, from Sunday, August 29 to Sunday, September 12."

Racers will have two weeks to set and submit their time in one of three races the half marathon, 5k or 10k race.

FAIM did have to cancel the kids fun run unfortunately however Koch says kids are more than welcome to join in on the running in the other races.

Koch says they did change the signup cost this year because of COVID.

"Register at Highriverhalf.com, its a flat registration fee for all races a fee of $50, we do offer youth and seniors discounts but its a flat fee otherwise."

Koch says people will have tons of flexibility when it comes to submitting their time.

"They'll have two weeks, it's a half marathon, 10k or 5k, August 29th to September 12th is the official timeline for people to get their races done."

Koch says people can do their "race" anywhere even on the "official" path which they will be setting up during the two weeks for people to run along.
