The CFR Chemical Midget Triple 'A' Bisons are off to a good start in the AMHL season after sweeping a pair of South Division opponents over the weekend.

It all started with a convincing 6-1 victory Saturday over the Lethbridge Hurricanes then was followed up Sunday by double the SEAC Tigers out of Medicine Hat 4-2.

Bisons Head Coach Sandy Henry says for the first week of the season the four points goes a long way.

"I thought the guy were really ready to play this weekend, we had a great week of practice and we were able to transfer it to the ice with that energy level," he says. "There's still some work to do obviously but a real good start for us."

It's a talented Bison roster with plenty of offensive upside including first overall pick in this past spring's WHL Bantam draft and Okotoks native Peyton Krebs, along with Tarun Fizer, Jackson Salt and Zach Huber. While Medicine Hat Tigers prospect Cole Clayton leading the team's back end.

Henry says this year's edition of the Bisons has all the makings of another special season with some hard work ahead.

"I think we're a quicker team than that, maybe not quite as massive up front as that Telus Cup team was but certainly on the foot speed department we're very fast even our big guys skate really. Certainly we have the personnel to have four lines that look like that I think but there's some intangibles there that have to happen."

With ten goals in the first two games of the season, Henry hopes the scoring can continue to balance from lines one to four.

"The skill level is unbelievable but some of the details of the skill have to get better. The pass and receive and being able to do it while we're skating at full speed so in the early part of the year that's the development plan we use."

The Bisons are on a North Division road trip this weekend as they'll be against Edmonton's CAC Gregg Distributors Saturday and the Leduc Oil Kings Sunday.
