It took an  extra day, but the Strathmore Stampede wrapped up Tuesday night and when the dust settled it was Gary Gorst who captured the 2016 title.

It his first show championship since joining the World Orofessional Chuckwagon Association back in 2012.

Gorst won the championship after posting the best 4-day aggregate time, finishing 1.8 seconds ahead of John Walters, who was runner-up for the second straight week.

Okotoks' Mark Sutherland tied for 7th and 8th Tuesday night while High River's Jason Glass was 34th and Jordie Fike was 19th.

Sutherland wound up 10th in the aggregate while Fike was 27th and Glass 28th.

The next chuckwagon action starts August 10 in Dawson Creek at the Battle of the North.
