The Alberta Under-18 Provincial Curling Playdowns got started Friday afternoon in Lacombe.

A pair of foothills teams from the Oilfields Curling Club are representing southern Alberta.

The Jacob Libbus rink defeated the Jason Trembley rink from Fort St. John 9-3. Followed by another win over the Braden Pelech rink from Edmonton 5-4.

Jared Palanuik also defeated Braden Pelech from Edmonton 10-1 in his opening game. He followed it up by another win over Lyndin Stone's team from Manning 5-3.

The curling continues at noon today with draw 3. It's the battle of Black Diamond as Libbus and Palanuik go head to head to begin this second day of competition.

Draw 4 also runs today at 6pm, Libbus will battle Stone, and Palanuik will take on Jacques.
