The Foothills will host the best High School aged rugby players in the Province this weekend.

Black Diamond's Oilfields High School will host the TIER III ASAA Senior Girls Rugby Provincials, and High River’s Highwood High School hold to the TIER III ASAA Senior Boys Rugby Provincials.

Eight teams from all over the province will compete in one of the biggest, and most intense, tournaments of their high school athletic career.

Pamela Pracic, coach with the Oilfields Seniors Girls rugby team says she's excited to show the province just how strong her team is.

"These girls are probably the most inspirational group of girls, they push through a lot, good weather, bad weather, injuries or not, they are a really tough group of girls. To see them perform and be a apart of something so great, and to be around such powerful athletes, is very exciting."

Pracic says watching the girls grow over the season has been an absolute delight, and she's honoured to be involved in this tournament.

"I've been very fortunate to be a part of this organization, I've also coached in High River and I'm super fortunate to have a lot of rugby experience. Seeing the girls come together for an event like this has been absolutely gratifying as a coach and a teacher."

Games get underway at 10:30 am on Friday, June 9 through till 7:30 pm and the action begins at 9:00 am on Saturday, June 10 at both Schools.
