Fire Services responded to a car fire in Southbank today.

Shortly after 1 in the afternoon, crews were notified of the small fire in the parking lot near Home Depot.

On arrival, personnel observed flames emerging through one of the front headlights and from under the hood, and were soon able to extinguish the blaze.

The occupants of the vehicle, a mother and her young child, were unharmed.

Flames were limited to the car, which itself sustained most of the damage under the hood.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
