The Foothills Composite Falcons will look to take the number one seed in the Big Rock Football Conference this week as they battle their cross town rivals the Holy Trinity Academy Knights Thursday night.

The Falcons are coming off a commanding 41-0 victory in High river against the Highwood Mustangs last week which allowed many on the Falcons roster to take extra reps against a rebuilding Mustangs program.

Head Coach Darren Olson says that game despite the score does a lot for his depth charts down the road.

"It was good in the fact that we got a lot of our young guys in and we had our grade ten quarter back play the whole game for us so that's always positive," he says. "We had a running back who played three quarters and has been a defensive back for us all year so it just gives us a chance to experiment with different things."

Olson says the battle of Okotoks always has a great atmosphere to it and there's going to be plenty of match-ups to keep an eye on.

"A lot of these kids have played with each other in Bantam and so a chance to play against each other is good. They've won their past two games and they did a pretty good job against Rundle on Friday night as well. So they're definitely getting it together so we need to make sure that we're ready to face a tough team on Thursday."

The Falcons took last year's tilt 38-0 but Olson says this game won't be a walk with the Knights coming off two straight wins including a 37-7 win at Rundle College last Friday

"We got to get a good start, when we played Hunting Hills a couple weeks ago we had a slow start in the game we ended up being down 7-0 at the half and they scored on their first drive in the second half. I don't think against HTA we can put ourselves in a hole like that so we've got make sure that we're ready to go right off the bat and not put ourselves in a position where we're fighting to get back even for the whole game."

Kick-off is 7 p.m. at Knights Field.
