It's opening night for varsity football under the lights at the Foothills Composite High School in Okotoks September 8 at 7 p.m.

They are hosting tier one ranked Centennial Coyotes from Calgary.

Coach Darren Olsen says the team played pretty well last weekend in their first game against L-C-I.

"It is defiantly going to be a big challenge for our guys,' said Olsen.

He said they have some talent on their team this year.

"Our quarterback Tyson Pitchers played very well for us last week. Payton Price is a three year starter on the offence as well."

And they had some younger players also played very well last week.

"They just need a little bit more experience," said Olsen.

The game is part of Spirit day at the Comp and they are hoping lots of students and families stick around for the football game.

The varsity volleyball teams are playing their arch rivals the Holy Trinity Knights in the afternoon.

after the volleyball games there is a parking lot party with a barbecue.

Olsen says its an exciting day for athletics at the school and the students are really excited about it.
