Life changed in an instant for one pitbull lab on Oct. 10.

Torrey Logan was out walking her two dogs with her friend Kathy Mccaughan on private property when her dogs were blindsided by a porcupine that was obscured in the marsh.

Her dog Stella took the worst of it.

"With the quills in her lungs, the laboured breathing, she's lucky that one quill didn't hit her main artery. She was at the vet just in time," said Logan.

They were able to get medical help from the vet, but at a high cost.

"I'm over the $13,000 mark."

Her friend Mccaughan has started a GoFundMe fundraiser to help with the price.

"I have a hard time asking for help, so I'm so grateful for Kathy doing this for me. She's been absolutely amazing," said Logan.

She's hoping for the best and is very thankful to everyone who's been donating.

"My dogs are my life, and I had to give her a chance because she's still so young and healthy. And she's such a good girl. Lots of people think I'm absolutely crazy for doing this, but my dogs are my life. I live for my dogs."
