The Okotoks Oilers are happy for former player Dylan Holloway, who was drafted in the first round last week by the Edmonton Oilers.

Tyler Deis, who coached Holloway in his time with Okotoks says he earned it.

"It couldn't happen to a better guy. You know, we're just really excited. He's a focused young man and a focused hockey player. You know we just wish him the best and it's well deserved."

Holloway now has a choice to make though.

Go back to the University of Wisconsin, or perhaps turn pro after just two years at school.

Deis, says Holloway has the skills for the show.

"Just with his determination and his focus and stuff, I think the sky's the limit. The way he can skate and stuff like that. I think that he's got a great opportunity here."

Deis says with guys like Connor McDavid and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins in their line-up. he's got some great built in mentors.

Holloway was taken 14th overall and is the highest drafted Okotoks Oiler in the team's history.
