A five run eighth inning was the difference for the Okotoks Dawgs Wednesday night as they won their 20th game, beating the Medicine Hat Mavericks 8-4.

The Mavericks jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, but the Dawgs would tie it in the fourth inning, and go up by a run in five.

The Mavericks tied it a three in the seventh inning, before taking the lead again in the top of eight.

But the bottom of eight was their undoing as the Dawgs bats came to life.

Infielder Brian Sisler once again led the charge as he was 3-for-4 at the plate, scoring once and  bringing in two more.

He says the Dawgs seem to have the Mavericks number this season.

"We've been playing well against them We still respect them as an opponent. But I don't think out confidence when we're playing them drops at all."

The Dawgs host the Yorkton Cardinals in the first of two games starting Thursday night and Sisler says they need to get the bats going early this time.

"It's nice when you're the first one to score. So tomorrow (Thursday) night we're going to try to come out of the gates hot and put them down early."

Game time is 7:05.
