The Dawgs take game one of the WCBL finals in Okotoks with an 8-0 win over the Medicine Hat Mavericks.

The Dawgs bats have been hot this postseason as they recorded 14 hits in the shutout, while the Dawgs pitching would hold the Mavericks to 4 hits.

The Dawgs move to 5-0 in the playoffs, and they are now one win away from their 7th WCBL title.

Brendan Luther (Bellevue University, NE) would hit his 3rd home run of the playoffs which opened the scoring in the first inning and extended his hitting streak to 22 games. Luther would finish the night 2 for 5 with 1 RBI. Alejandro Cazorla (Bossier Parrish CC, LA) would go 1 for 4 tonight scoring 2 RBI in the game 1 victory after launching a home run in the 3rd inning. Connor Crowson (University of Montevallo, AL) would go 3 for 3 tonight recording 1 RBI. Eric Machej (Dawgs Academy) would record 1 RBI tonight while going 1 for 5. Eric Hartman (Dawgs Academy) would score 1 RBI going 1 for 5 in tonight’s impressive game 1 win.

Graham Brunner (Emporia State University, KS) would save his best game of the season until tonight going 6.2 innings tonight allowing no runs on 3 hits while striking out 8 Mavericks batters.

The Dawgs would turn to the bullpen and use 3 pitchers in the game, allowing no runs and 1 hit.

The Dawgs will travel to Medicine Hat for game two of the WCBL Final on Wednesday night August 16th, first pitch set for 7:05pm.

If necessary, game 3 of the WCBL Final on Thursday August 17th, will be back at Seaman Stadium in Okotoks with first pitch set for 7:05pm.
