A new 50/50 draw has been launched by the Okotoks Dawgs to hopefully recoup some of the revenue that was lost by the cancellation of the 2020 season.

Dawgs VP William Gardner says 2021 is likely to be a busy year, so the extra funding will go a long way.

"With the season being cancelled, it really just ended all revenue for us. We thought it'd be great to offer a 50/50, it would help us gain a little bit of financial support and cushion to carry us through to 2021."

Along with the 2021 season, the Dawgs are also preparing to host the WCBL All-Star Game in July.

Gardner says like so many others, they've had to adapt over the last few months.

"We'd have local staff and summer interns. All of that was curtailed when the season cancelled. We just literally had to cut back to bare bones, as so many in the community have. We are doing our best to keep our noses above water, we're just riding this out."

As well as providing some financial relief for the Dawgs, Gardner says it'll also restore some interaction with fans.

"It was an answer for so many fans who were inquiring about doing the 50/50 draws. They enjoy that as part of their Dawgs game day experience, and this is a way we can offer that in the off-season."

Tickets are available until Sunday, October 25, with the draw happening on Friday, October 30.

A second draw is scheduled for Monday, November 30.
