The Okotoks Dawgs came up just short against the Medicine Hat Mavericks Sunday afternoon at Seaman Stadium, losing 11-8.

Brendan Hendriks did well at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI's while scoring a run of his own.

Kellen Marruffo went 2-for-5, scored once and had a pair of RBI's.

Tyrell King started on the mound for the Dawgs pitching 5.1 innings, giving up five runs on seven hits.

Holden Lyons came in to replace King going 1.2 innings giving up two runs on three hits while walking one and striking out four.

Dan Grazzini replaced Lyons, but didn't stay long pitching just 0.2 innings, giving up two runs.

Jeremy Newton finished the game for the Dawgs pitching 1.1 innings, giving up two runs on two hits, walking one and striking out one Maverick.

Dawgs Manager Brett Thomas says overall the boys played hard, but just came up short.

"We played the game hard for nine innings. And that's all we ask of these guys is to do that. You know, really proud of the effort they put in and unfortunately we just didn't do a lot of the things we needed to do late in the game, but we'll get better at that and it'll be fine, but we talk to these guys about playing hard every day and they gave the fans everything they had today."

The Dawgs wind up the regular season with four on the road starting Tuesday in Edmonton.
