The Okotoks Dawgs dropped their second straight game to an eastern opponent as they lost to the Yorkton Cardinals in a 6 inning rainout at Seaman Stadium.

The Dawgs got all of their 3 runs in the 3rd inning, as Michael Gretler had 2 RBI’s on 1 hit as Justin King had the other RBI on his lone hit of the night.

Garret Kirkwood and Daniel Fredrickson had the other hits for the Dawgs as they were shut down offensively the rest of the game.

Jared Spearing had a rough outing against the Cardinals, as he only lasted a third of an inning, getting the loss in the 11-3 beat down the Cardinals gave the Dawgs.

In his third of an inning, Spearing gave up 5 hits, 4 runs and 1 walk.

Michael Bucci and Brendan Kawaja were sent into pitch relief for Okotoks.

Bucci pitched 3.2 innings, giving up 4 hits, 6 runs, 2 of which were earned, 3 walks and 1 strikeout.

Kawaja pitched 1 inning, allowing 1 hit, 1 run, no earned runs and 2 walks.

The Dawgs and Cardinals go back at it on Sunday as they finish up their 2 game series at Seaman Stadium.

Game time is set for 2:05pm and gates will be open at 12:30pm.

Sundays game will also be the annual Breast Cancer game as the Dawgs will wear jerseys that will be auctioned off during the game.

The proceeds will be donated to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.
