Second year Okotoks Oiler Connor Chambers will be sporting the Captain's "C" on his jersey this season.

Oilers Coach James Poole says Chambers really showed leadership last season and through camp this year.

Poole says chambers is proud to have the job.

"With his dad being an ex-NHL'er, (Former Dallas Star Shawn Chambers) he's kind of been through the rigors of hockey and seen it as a kid through his Dads eyes and he's made his journey through Junior (Hockey) as well. So, I think he's excited for the challenge and he's obviously honoured by the fact he's been named Captain for the season."

The team will name their two Assistant Captains later this week.

In the meantime they hit the road for their regular season opener Wednesday as they're in Drumheller to face the Dragons.
