The Okotoks Bisons beat the Three Hills Thrashers 9-4 Friday night, opening up their three game weekend on a high note.

Bisons forward Caleb Eefting says that going into the game the Bisons knew that the Thrashers were the only team they had not beaten on home ice yet and beating them was a major accomplishment.

"To have beaten every other team on our home ice is a huge step for us, we lost two games we were hoping that we would go unbeaten at home, but coming in knowing that if we beat this team on home ice we are one of the best teams just adds to the momentum," Eefting says.

The Bisons head to Strathmore on Saturday to take on the Strathmore Wheatland Kings.

This is the third time that the Bisons and Kings have met in the past month.

Eefting says that the Bisons and Kings will still meet one more time after Saturdays game.

"It somewhat feels like a place off series as the rivalry grows, the little battles become bigger and the fights become bigger everything just begins to pile on top."

With playoffs just around the corner the Bisons are focusing on what needs to be done to succeed.

Bisons Captain Darren Bordt says that they are sitting okay in the South Division standings but they are starting to fall behind.

"Cochrane is starting to pull away for us and we re starting to feel how serious the last stretch of these games really are," Bordt says.

The Bisons host the High River Flyers Sunday afternoon closing their three game weekend.
