The Alberta separation or Wexit movement is starting to gather some steam.

Over 750 people turned out Sunday, November 17, for a rally in Calgary, and there's more coming out for other events as the movement's organizers have moved to become a federal political party.

Foothills MP, John Barlow, says right now, they're not concerned over the movement, at least not yet.

"We understand it's very real. Albertan's and people in Western Canada, people in Saskatchewan and B.C. included, have reason to be frustrated. For us as their elected officials representing them in Ottawa, we have to be their voice and advocate for things they're worried about and that's energy, agriculture and our economy."

Barlow, says he certainly understands the frustration that's led to the Party's creation, but says the only thing it'll accomplish is consecutive Liberal governments.

"You know the only thing it accomplishes is splitting the vote and ensuring that's there's Liberal Governments you know, for as long as they want. And we went through that with the Reform (Party), you know with (Former PM Jean) Chretien and (Paul) Martin governments for 13 to 15 years."

The Wexit movement sprung out of frustration over the Trudeau Liberals winning the last election.
