A great night for Airdrie's Jake Vold at the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas Sunday, December 4, as the bareback rider picked up his first buckle of the event, riding to an 89.5 and first place on the night.

"I knew if I could do my job, that mare's been phenominal for a lot of years and I knew I had a chance at a good cheque. You know, I couldn't believe it worked out the way it did. You know everything felt good about it. And I finally got my first go-round win."

He picks up a cheque for $26,230, and moves to fifth in the average.

Team ropers, Levi Simpson from Ponoka and Jeremy Buhler from Arrowwood split sixth place money Sunday, moving them to second in the average.

And saddlebronc riders, Jake Watson from Hudson Hope, B.C. and Zeke Thurston from Big Valley, Alberta both made some money Sunday as well.

The NFR runs until Saturday, December 10.
