Tomorrow's (Jan. 23) Okotoks Oilers game has been cancelled.
The Oilers were set to host the Canmore Eagles at 7 p.m., but this evening the AJHL announced that the game, along with two others, had been cancelled.
Those other two cancelled games are Sherwood Park vs. Camrose and Spruce Grove vs. Lloydminster, both scheduled for Jan. 24.
Over the weekend, the AJHL announced the cancellation of four other games scheduled for Jan. 20 and 21.
The flurry of cancelled games comes after confirmation that the Okotoks Oilers and four other AJHL teams were poised to join the BCHL for the 2024-2025 season.
"The Alberta Junior Hockey League continues to operate as a member of the Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL) and has not suspended any of its 16 member teams," reads the AJHL statement announcing the latest cancellations.
The Okotoks Oilers have responded, letting ticketholders know how the cancellation will affect them.
Our game tomorrow night against Canmore has been canceled by the AJHL.
