Black Diamonds "Main Street Village" will be adding on an additional 16 units next year thanks to a Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation program.

One of the owners of Main Street Village Nathan Brown says they have had this in the works since the building first went up.

"The project was originally built in 2011 through a federal and provincial affordable housing program, existing right now there are 28 units. Through a CMHC affordable housing program, we were able to secure financing for another 16 unit apartment building on the same ground, we had it all prepared in 2011 for another building, the time was right and we are able to make use of the CMHC program."

Brown says the project is expected to be completed by October 2021 with tenants being able to move in soon after.
