Aspiring filmmakers from around the Foothills will once again have a chance to show off their skills this summer.

The Okotoks Art Council is bringing back the Zooom Student Film Festival for the 3rd straight year.

Zooom chair Shawn Koski says they're hoping their early bird registration draw will get film buffs out and about well before the festival in October.

"We're looking for short films that are no longer then five minutes long and they can be live action or animated," she says.  "The prize for the best film is $1000 which is our incentive to those entering."

Registration and submissions close August 31. and Koski says those entering will save a few bucks if they register before June 1 it will only cost them $20 instead of $25

"We want to get registrations as fast as we can and participants can go on our website and follow the prompts and it's a very straight forward registration process."

Film styles are very open for the festival as they can be narrative, metaphorical, abstract or any other kind of film format.

Projects will be judged on individual voice, creativity, unique style, passion and impact. The fesitval is open to those aged 11-18.
